HRH The Prince of Wales meets Business Connectors at the BIG Connect

Friday 12 July was an exciting day for everyone involved in the Business Connectors programme.

At the event in central London, HRH The Prince of Wales met and spoke with Business Connectors and representatives of the community organisations that had benefited from connections.  He commended those involved in the programme and called on more businesses to support it at The Big Connect 2013: After hearing such stories of success, one might be forgiven for thinking that these wonderful businesses have already achieved their task. I’m afraid there is a great deal more to be done, and we desperately need ... a greater number of Business Connectors across England’s most deprived urban and rural areas.

The Prince singled out for mention the long-term effect Business Connector secondments have on those undertaking them. "One thing that’s also extremely encouraging is that virtually all of the Business Connectors whose secondments have now ended are maintaining their community links as they return to their companies, as volunteers, charity board members and school governors."

Addressing an audience of 1,000 representatives from businesses, charities, voluntary sector organisations and local authorities, the Prince thanked the pioneering companies already supporting Business Connectors, and expressed how encouraged he was by the programme’s achievements.
