Booth House homeless shelter develop training to help clients manage tenancies safely

On a visit to Booth House I was speaking to Eileen Koppoe who manages the training about some of the needs of individuals as they approach the moment for resettlement into housing.  Eileen said there were two key reasons why things failed and people came back through revolving door - financial management and tenancy management.  I helped through a different connection, to get the charity some training in financial management and capability through Lloyds Bank.  For this connection I worked through with Eileen the common reasons why a tenancy fails and then brought in Greensquare housing association and Swindon Borough Council Housing, together with Richard James lettings, to develop a course that could run at Booth House to help people who are ready to move on, develop good tenancy behaviour.  Following collaboration, the course has now been designed created and run for the first time with all parties extremely pleased at the collaboration that's been brought about through their business connector.  In addition Booth House has blended the financial management training provided by Lloyds so that the preparation for leaving the shelter embraces the two key reasons why tenancies have failed in the past.
